Performance analysis of multi-service wireless network: An approach integrating CAC, scheduling, and buffer management

چکیده
Traffic management (TM) mechanisms such as Call Admission Control (CAC), Scheduling, and Buffer Management (BM) play a key role in the design of multi-service wireless network by providing service differentiation from diverse applications and assigning the network resources (radio channels or buffer) according to the quality of service (QoS) requirements of each service class. We propose in this work two new models that integrate CAC, Scheduling, and BM in the design of multi-service wireless network. By presenting their Markovian models and their performance metrics, we investigate their respective design tradeoffs and compare their performance. 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A JOINT DUTY CYCLE SCHEDULING AND ENERGY AWARE ROUTING APPROACH BASED ON EVOLUTIONARY GAME FOR WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS
Network throughput and energy conservation are two conflicting important performance metrics for wireless sensor networks. Since these two objectives are in conflict with each other, it is difficult to achieve them simultaneously. In this paper, a joint duty cycle scheduling and energy aware routing approach is proposed based on evolutionary game theory which is called DREG. Making a trade-off ...
متن کاملAdaptive call admission control and resource allocation in multi server wireless/cellular network
The ever increasing demand of the subscribers has put pressure on the capacity of wireless networks around the world. To utilize the scare resources, in the present paper we propose an optimal allocation scheme for an integrated wireless/cellular model with handoff priority and handoff guarantee services. The suggested algorithm optimally allocates the resources in each cell and dynamically adj...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Multi-Parametric Call Admission Control Strategies in Un-Buffered Multi-Service Cellular Wireless Networks
In this paper model of integrated voice/data cellular wireless networks (CWN) are investigated. The unified approximate approach to calculate the desired Quality of Service (QoS) metrics in an isolated cell of such networks under two multi-parametric call admission control (CAC) strategies is developed. One of them is based on the guard channels scheme while the second is based on a threshold s...
متن کاملCombining data envelopment analysis and multi-objective model for the efficient facility location–allocation decision
This paper proposes an innovative procedure of finding efficient facility location–allocation (FLA) schemes, integrating data envelopment analysis (DEA) and a multi-objective programming (MOP) model methodology. FLA decisions provide a basic foundation for designing efficient supply chain network in many practical applications. The procedure proposed in this paper would be applied to the FLA pr...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Congestion Alleviating Protocol for Healthcare Applications in Wireless Body Sensor Networks: Learning Automata Approach
Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs) involve a convergence of biosensors, wireless communication and networks technologies. WBSN enables real-time healthcare services to users. Wireless sensors can be used to monitor patients’ physical conditions and transfer real time vital signs to the emergency center or individual doctors. Wireless networks are subject to more packet loss and congestion. T...
